Launch Pad Youth Activity and Technology Centre (Launch Pad) and Revera – The Village Hanover (Revera) in Hanover are excited to announce their partnership in creating a five-day, full-day summer camp on exploring different career opportunities in health care in our local communities.
Revera will be supporting the program in many ways but youth will be certified in Safe Ambulating Lifts and Transfers. Also participating in this week is the Alzheimer Society Grey-Bruce who will be teaching the Gentle Persuasive Approach in Dementia Care, another certificate program health care employers are looking for on employee resumes.
“Our mandate is to let youth explore different career opportunities and learn skills that allow them to become job ready,” explains Launch Pad Executive Director, Emily Morrison. “This partnership with Revera allows youth who are interested in health care to get a first-hand look at a variety of health care jobs in our communities and sets them up with certificate programs to build their resumes.”
This camp runs July 27th – August 3rd for $85 with course materials and some lunches included. The program will take place at Launch Pad while also being able to spend one full day at Revera.
Launch Pad offers after school/evening programming focused on skills based learning in addition to a youth drop-in space. The Centre encourages youth to gain the skills they need to become active and contributing members of their communities. Open Tuesday to Friday 3:30 – 8:00 PM for 12-18 year olds for drop-in hours, Launch Pad also offers full day programs throughout the summer months. Registration is now open for Summer Programs and all programs can be found online at www.yatc.ca. For more information, or a tour of Launch Pad, call 519 506-6300.
